Terry Tempest Williams is an artist, writer and activist. It seems that writing about the natural world and activism tend to be inseparable. Williams is a prime example of this, along with most of our shop's favorite naturalist authors.

Williams went to the University of Utah, where she got a Bachelor’s of English with a minor in Biology, as well as a Master’s of Science. After college, she taught in Salt Lake City and Navajo Nation. She has since been outspoken about women’s rights, land conservation, and protesting nuclear testing. An abnormal amount of William’s family has gotten cancer, which is likely caused by nuclear testing that went on nearby in Nevada.

Her writing includes books of nonfiction prose and essays, children’s stories, as well as environmental and political journalism and is heavily influenced by the unique landscape of Utah. She beautifully captures the passion that many feel for it, which is a love that is vital to express when much of it-from the Great Salt Lake to Monument Valley-is in harm’s way due to fracking and farming demands.

This is a 90 - 120 minute program, recorded live for future broadcast over various podcasts and YouTube channels. Must be 21 years and older to attend.
