We will be discussing one of our shop favorite authors, Wendell Berry. Ken Sanders considers Berry one of the most important authors of all time.
Wendell Berry is a living author, activist, farmer, and professor in and from Kentucky. Berry advocates heavily for small-scale farming and living in harmony with nature. His works are considered critical for the environmental movement and the understanding of the importance of local economies.
The author's farm is in Kentucky, where he grows corn, small grains and raises sheep. He has written multiple books inspired by his early years spent on the farm after receiving a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Kentucky.
Berry has been outspoken about being against the Vietnam war, the death penalty, and big agriculture practices that lead to soil degradation, fossil fuel dependency, pollution, and "the destruction of rural communities."
Berry's writing is witty, emotional, and cathartic for anyone mad about the way our beautiful landscape has been forced to bend under the weight of the needs of capitalism.
This is a 90 - 120 minute program, recorded live for future broadcast over various podcasts and YouTube channels. Must be 21 years and older to attend.
